Ide Hill 0 - 1 Kings Hill
Saturday 1st October 2016
Adam Ashton sponsored by VJA Consultancy Ltd (www.vjaconsultancyltd.co.uk) reports from Wrotham Secondary School
The game started off with Kings Hill dominating possession and play, Ide Hill did not look as if they had turned up as evident by some extremely poor decision making. First chance of the game goes to Kings Hill as Austin gets onto the end of a misplaced pass from an Ide Hill midfielder, Austin runs at the keeper but a heavy touch takes the ball too far away from himself and into the keepers hands.
Ide Hill seem very sloppy in the defence as some simple passes have given away possession in dangerous places in the final third, if they keep this up then they are in for a rough and potential goal fest.Nice and simple passing on the edge of the Ide Hill penalty box by Kings Hill, a resulting shot that slowly rolls into the keeper hands and Ide Hill play out from the back.
Sloppy play again by Ide Hill as Austin nearly had a simple goal to his name, a set up by Rice but the keeper managed to keep it out of the goal despite a sketchy start by Ide Hill. Despite the extremely sloppy start from Ide Hill their goalkeeper has played particularly well keeping out all of Kings Hill’s chances.
A very promising start by Kings Hill, within 10 minutes 4 shots and 4 on target, though the goalkeeper has kept them all out the chances are staring Kings Hill in the face asking to be converted. Ide Hill first promising chance at goal comes from a corner, a left foot whipped ball into the box connects with an Ide Hill attacker but merely over the Kings Hill cross bar, the first real sketchy moment for the Kings Hill defence.
First corner goes to Kings Hill with just over 20 minutes gone in the game, a cross that misses the first attacking man and a volley is snatched and sent over the cross bar and our the football pitch.
Yet another sloppy mistake from an Ide Hill defender straight to Moncieff left the entirety of the Ide Hill team confused at what just happened. A shot from Moncieff from the edge of the box and went very wide. But extremely promising attacking from Kings Hill, dominant in the first half.
Another corner to Kings Hill, crossed by Austin but didn't beat beat the first man. With chance like these and lots of crosses, it should be a field day for the attackers but when a cross doesn’t beat the first man it’s a vital chance missed. Some nice play out from the back by Kings Hill, a slip by Austin in the centre of the pitch but able to still maintain the ball. A pass to Rice and then to Croucher as he then drives down the left wing and puts a ball in but comes to nothing. Still 0-0
Goal by Craig Moncieff, a wonderful headed goal at the back post. A quality ball in by Jason Hollick. It looked to be the wrong ball but the positioning and timing by Moncieff at the back post proved otherwise as he scored from around 6 yards.
The Ide Hill goalkeeper was out of his goal, a ball played by Minieri into the middle of the pitch on the edge of the box which found Austin, confusion between the Ide Hill goalkeeper and a defender. The ball was nabbed by Minieri as he tried to find Austin in the 6 yard box but the defender got to the ball first and the keeper cleared.
The danger for Ide Hill is all coming from Minieri and Moncieff down the left and right hand side. The full backs are unable to contain their pace or skills allowing the chance at a ball into the box for Kings Hill.
Free kick to Kings Hill, Austin was held off the ball but a few yards on the edge of the box. Ball from the free kick was played to the edge of the box for Sean Adams to take a shot but to be blocked by the first man in the Ide Hill box.
Ide Hill start the second half with a desire to get a goal back and try and win this game. The first chance for them comes only moment into the second half, the resulting corner turns into nothing and Kings Hill now begin their attack.
Injury to Adam Douglas just outside the Kings Hill penalty box, fears he has twisted his knee and he was in some pain, but he is back up onto both feet and jogging off the pitch. Will be interesting to see how this injury alters how he plays in the rest of the game.
Corner won by Minieri as he tried to create a yard of space in the Ide Hill penalty box, a resulting corner for Kings Hill which captain Simon Austin takes and the header went only centre meters over the crossbar, a very good chance to double the Kings Hill lead.
The frustration of being a striker in this game is showing. So many chances to put a good ball into the box for Austin but the keeper is able to come and collect every attempt Kings Hill have to put the ball in.
Double injury for Kings Hill as Rice is substituted after his ankle is injured in the middle of the pitch and Craig Moncieff is subbed off too and is replaced by Sinden.
The rain starts to fall and slowly becomes hailstone, the Kings Hill players haven't only been played in a harsh game but they have also had to battle against the weather which is easier said than done.
With the change in weather the game slowed right down, very few longs balls and many more short passes and promising build up play for both teams. Idk Hill needed a goal to get anything from this game but they were still unable to have a chance on goal that really put Kings Hill under supreme pressure.
